Isis Quilt

Name: Isis Quilt which won first prize in the 2010 UK Hoffman Challenge

Description from Eve:

This quilt depicts the life-giving goddess Isis kneeling among papyrus and lotus flowers under a starry sky. Her headdress is a horned sun disk and her wings represent her aspect as Protectress. The original design was drawn from many authentic sources, including Egyptian artwork (Queen Nefertari's tomb, King Tutankhamun's coffin) and Owen Jones' study of ancient patterns, The Grammar of Ornament. The quilt was entirely hand-sewn, using piecing, appliqué, embroidery, metallic threads, beading and quilting.
